Habitat Assessment and Restoration Professionals (HARP) has been evaluating, protecting, preserving, and restoring natural resources in the Carolinas and adjacent states since the mid 1990's. Dr. Jim Matthews founded HARP in partnership with Dr. Larry Mellichamp in the mid 1990's. As early as the 1960's, Dr. Jim Matthews and Dr. Mellichamp started surveying natural areas across North Carolina in search of rare and unusual plant species and plant communities. Since its inception, Under President and CEO Karri Blackmon’s leadership HARP has evolved into one of the Southeast's most trusted environmental firms. From its early beginnings, HARP has grown steadily and performs a wide variety of consulting and restoration services throughout the Southeastern United States and beyond, including consulting services for stream and wetland delineation, stream and wetland restoration, bio-engineering, 404/401 water quality permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys, storm water control measures (SCM) plantings, restoration plantings, invasive plant management as well as a host of other environmentally-based regulatory compliance services.
